Yo La Tengo have and always will be oddballs, their art rock pop songs are quirky to say the least and with more than 15 albums released since 1984, they have demonstrated unusual longevity for the indie-rock scene. They are also frequently regarded as one of the definitive indie rock groups of the 1990s and have developed a large cult following.

As an interesting further point, Yo La Tengo are one of only four acts to provide a version of the theme music for The Simpsons, which can be heard at the end of the episode 'D'oh-in In the Wind'
