Led by New York City singer-songwriter Stephin Merrit, The Magnetic Fields have found huge success with their 1980's style synth pop.
They are best known for their 1999 triple album '69 Love Songs' which made use of many unconventional musical instruments such as the ukulele, banjo, accordion, cello and mandolin, alongside their usual synthesisers, guitars and effects.
