Stephen Fry
A true English gentleman, Stephen Fry’s career has spanned acting, writing, journalism, comedy, television and film direction. In his most recent venture he has taken on the role as a director at Championship high flyers Norwich City Football Club, a team of which he has been a lifelong fan. His break came with his old chum Hugh Laurie (a fellow Cambridge graduate and Footlight member), with The Cellar Tapes and other assorted series that hit the BBC screens in the early eighties and established Fry and Laurie as a formidable comedy double act. A Bit of Fry and Laurie followed with its first series in 1986 and ran for 26 episodes until 1995 and was hugely successful. Also during this time Fry starred as Lord and later General Melchett in Rowan Atkinson’s Blackadder series and as Jeeves (again with Laurie) in the adaptations of P.G Wodehouse’s Jeeves and Wooster novels. Fry has been one of the more notable advocates of Apple products, most notably the iPhone and iPad of which he speaks glowingly. Followers of him on Twitter will no doubt attest to his comical musings on daily life, although he once threatened to quit using the social media tool after several hostile messages were posted on his account – thankfully, he has continued to write regularly and recently welcomed his one millionth Twitter follower. Fry now embarks on a series of live dates that will encompass various aspects of his career.
