He hails from Yelverton and is one of the fastest-rising stars on the Folk-Roots scene. His album 'Kitty Jay' was launched in front of an audience made up of inmates at Dartmoor Prison and was voted Time Out magazine's number one Folk / Roots album of 2004. He fronts his own band, together with brother Sean Lakeman, one of the most accomplished guitarists in the UK and Ben Nicholls, the renowned acoustic double bassist.
