Seatwave confirms exceptional
growth in Q1 in the Welsh capital
LONDON: 01 June 2009 - Seatwave, Europe's leading fan-to-fan
ticket exchange, today confirmed continued explosive growth in
Cardiff with ticket sales increasing 249% quarter on quarter. This
phenomenal performance and the city's clear passion for the
industry has helped Cardiff's live entertainment scene grow at
twice the rate of London and its contribution to overall ticket
sales in the UK double in the last year alone.
This growth has been driven, mostly, by the increasing impact of
the exceptional Millennium Stadium. In Q1, this venue made up more
than two-thirds of all ticket sales in the city. With a capacity of
over 74,000, the impact the stadium will play on live entertainment
in the city does not look set to diminish.
Underpinning this phenomenal achievement is Seatwave's continued
focus on providing a safe and secure marketplace for fans to buy
and sell tickets. It is an unwavering focus which saw the
number of Cardiff fans using the flexibility of Seatwave to sell on
their spare tickets increase by a staggering 529% from the same
quarter in 2008.
Commenting on the figures, Joe Cohen, Founder and CEO of
Seatwave, said:
"Seatwave's exponential growth in Cardiff proves that our focus
on fans and providing them with a secure exchange to buy and sell
tickets is the right way to go. It's also fantastic to see Cardiff
become an increasingly important stop on the live entertainment
circuit. With an amazing venue in the Millennium Stadium, it's no
wonder why."
