Seatwave confirms strong continued
growth in Q1 2009
LONDON: 01 June 2009 - Seatwave, Europe's leading fan-to-fan
ticket exchange, today confirmed continued explosive growth in
Manchester, the UK's leading entertainment hub outside London, with
ticket sales in the city outselling Liverpool alone almost 6 to 1.
The strong performance drove a marked drop in ticket prices for
Manchester's live events, with the average price paid for a ticket
falling 12% from the same quarter in the previous year.
In the current economic conditions, Mancunians are proving
themselves savvy consumers as they seek out value-for-money live
entertainment experiences through Seatwave's secure ticket
exchange. The number of tickets which sold below face value almost
quadrupled from the same period last year. The biggest bargain for
the quarter was secured by two lucky fans keen to catch Snow Patrol
live, paying only £8.50 a ticket.
Underpinning this phenomenal achievement is Seatwave's continued
focus on providing a safe and secure marketplace for fans to buy
and sell tickets. It is an unwavering focus which saw the
number of fans from Manchester using the flexibility of Seatwave to
sell on their spare tickets increase by over 300% from the same
quarter in 2008.
Commenting on the figures, Joe Cohen, Founder and CEO of
Seatwave, said:
"Seatwave's exponential growth in Manchester shows that our
focus on helping fans buy and sell tickets is the winning approach
in this space. It's also testament to the burgeoning live
entertainment industry in the town. With such a rich heritage, it's
no wonder Mancunians continue to prove themselves massive fans of
the live experience."
