A string of big brand collaborations highlights growing
importance of secondary ticket market for fans
LONDON: 3 December 2009 -
Seatwave, Europe's largest fan-to-fan ticket exchange, has
announced a strong third quarter following an exciting summer
season of live entertainment and the announcement of a number of
high-profile partnerships. Building on the company's unwavering
focus to provide more consumer choice and flexibility, the
partnerships have contributed to the growing popularity of the
ticket exchange amongst ordinary fans.
An extended partnership with MTV will see Seatwave provide
exclusive ticketing for all MTV Presents concerts; gigs presenting
a pick of the world's most established and emerging talent.
In addition, a brand new partnership with retail giant HMV,
enabling fans to collect tickets for certain events from their
Trocadero store, also marks Seatwave's commitment to providing
additional options for fans to reliably get their tickets once
purchased. It goes hand in hand with their announcement of a switch
to exclusive UPS delivery of all tickets sold through the exchange,
across all their territories.
Commenting on the quarter, Joe Cohen, Founder and CEO of
Seatwave, said:
"It's great to see that the live entertainment industry
continues to flourish and help boost the economy during a somewhat
difficult 18 months. We've continued to make and renew a number of
exciting partnerships that we believe benefit our fans and, as a
response, have growth of almost 70 per cent from the same quarter
last year. We've also witnessed a 155 per cent growth in the number
of ordinary fans selling tickets through our site - strong proof we
are providing the right solutions for our customers."
The quarter closed with Seatwave retaining their leadership
position in the UK and across Europe, and the company launched new
exchanges in Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and Ireland. Their
growth in the UK was assisted by a strong above-the-line
advertising campaign on radio, London Underground and ESPN
television channels.
