Seatwave confirms exceptional
growth in Q1 in Glasgow
LONDON: 01 June 2009 - Seatwave, Europe's leading fan-to-fan
ticket exchange, today confirmed continued explosive growth in
Glasgow with ticket sales increasing 272% quarter on quarter. The
phenomenal performance placed Glasgow as the leading live
entertainment hub in Scotland, outselling Edinburgh 2 to 1. Hampden
Park and the SECC dominated during the quarter, with these top two
venues making up for over 75% of all ticket sales in the city.
In the current economic conditions, Glaswegians are also proving
themselves savvy consumers as they seek out value-for-money live
entertainment experiences through Seatwave's secure ticket
exchange. The number of tickets which sold below face value almost
tripled from the same period last year.
Underpinning this phenomenal achievement is Seatwave's continued
focus on providing a safe and secure marketplace for fans to buy
and sell tickets. It is an unwavering focus which saw the
number of Glaswegian fans using the flexibility of Seatwave to sell
on their spare tickets increase by a staggering 460% from the same
quarter in 2008.
Commenting on the figures, Joe Cohen, Founder and CEO of
Seatwave, said:
"Seatwave's exponential growth in Glasgow shows that our focus
on helping fans buy and sell tickets is the winning approach in
this space. It's also great to see Glasgow take centre stage for
live entertainment in Scotland, with live music absolutely
dominating. During the quarter, concerts made up 93% of all ticket
sales. That's a clear bias."
