          Porcupine Tree

          Porcupine Tree

The Grammy Award nominated Progressive Rock outfit Porcupine Tree have been on the go since the late 80's. Influenced by the likes of Tangerine Dream and Neu!, Porcupine Tree adopt a combination of Rock, Psychedelia and Metal. Their frontman Steven Wilson, is also known for producing Swedish Progressive Death Metal band Opeth and Norwegian Anja Garbarek. They were formed in Hemel Hempsted in 1987 and since then have released 10 studio albums over the last twenty years. The style is impossible to categorise, but they have been named in their careers as prog rock, and psychedelic rock, and they themselves claim to be influenced by trance, krautrock and ambient. They are also famous for their groundbreaking work with multimedia to their live performances, which has added visual elements to their tours, and they are currently working with the Danish film producer Lasse Hoile, whose involvement has galvanized their unique image as performers in the ambient/prog rock genre’s. Despite being signed currently to two separate labels, the band also have their own label which they release special editions on. In 2007 their album Fear of a Blank Planet was nominated for a Grammy, in the under-subscribed niche of “Best Surround Sound Album”. Even though the tickets were very expensive , My wife and myself had a fantastic day . The gig itself was tremendous and the RAH itself was stunning ( first time there ) . I am pleased that we got tickets though and I would do it again , but only if I wasn't able to go thru the normal channels . Three stars for seatwave , but Eleven out of ten for PT ...
