Pixie Lott
Pixie Lott has taken the UK charts by storm since her debut single, “Mama Do” released in 2009. The single went straight to the official number one spot in the UK, and her second single, released a few months later also went to number one. Her debut album was released late in 2009 and has so far had five hit singles, and is a certified double Platinum album. Originally from Bromely, Pixie despite being just nineteen years old has had a reasonably long running musical career. While she was just thirteen to fourteen years old she appeared in the West End’s production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and the BBC’s Sound of Music, and went on to record backing vocals for Roger Waters. Currently on her debut UK Headline Tour “the Crazycats Tour” she has also performed as support for both The Saturdays on their 2009 tour, and for international superstar Rihanna on her 2010 UK Tour. Her burgeoning career has also received many awards, in 2009 she was either nominated for, or won Best UK, Best New and Best Push Artist in the MTV Europe Music Awards, Breakthrough artist of the year at the Q Awards, and Best Newcomer at the Virgin Media Music Awards. She has been nominated for three Brit Awards this year, including Best Female Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist and Best British Single for her debut of last year, Mama Do. 2010 is also the year that Pixie is trying to break into the US Mainstream with both the release of her debut album, along with her film Debut “Fred: The Movie” which is set to debut in mid September on Nickelodeon.
