French musical collective Nouvelle Vague began with trip hop/jazz producers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux. Wanting to create something entirely fresh and different, the duo took songs that they loved, by bands such as Joy Division and The Cure. They then re-worked them, with female vocalists who had never heard the songs before to make sure that each cover would have a unique quality. The result is a complete transformation of the originals, an eclectic mix of bossa-nova, jazz and pop.
