Ken Dodd and his guests gave a superb 4 hour show in Glasgow last night. Virtually all his jokes were new compared to the last time I saw him a few years ago. I recommend seeing a Kenn Doodd show as part of everyone's "bucket" list as it is so inspiring to see someone at the age of 83 love what he does so much and bring happiness into an otherwise far too serious life. The only other person I have seen who has given a 4 hour concert was Bruce Springsteen but he was more than half Kenn Dodd's age. Both performers were/are amazing but it is much easier putting on a concert of songs as everyone wants to hear songs they know, few people want to hear the same jokes being told again and again. Ken Dodd manages to keep his show fresh and I respect his ability and integrity for doing this. Regardless of his run in with the tax authorities he should be made a SIR because there has never been , nor is it likely that there will ever be, anyone quite like him. As someone who has toured various countries with a type of show I am in awe with the quality of his jokes and singing voice at the age of 83. His song "Absent Friends" is one of the best I have ever heard in a variety show. Don't wait too long to go and see him - even Ken will have to retire at sometime.
