Foals are an Oxford based 5 piece band with an intriguing mix of indie, alternative and the dubiously named math-rock. Formed in 2005 out of the remnants of the band ‘The Edmund Fitzgerald’ the band is comprised of Jack Bevan (Drums), Yannis Philippakis (guitar & vocals), Jimmy Smith (guitar), Edwin Congreave (keyboard, backing vocals) and Walter Gervers (bass guitar and backing vocals). Despite not having had much success on the UK Singles chart, their best so far being outside the top twenty, “Antidotes” their 2008 album charted at number 2 in March. The genre’s that the band attribute their style to are as varied as they are unusual, from minimal techno to punk, indie to math rock.
