Tiesto
Tiësto sits firmly on top of the DJ tree. He is one of the most popular, most sought after and most well paid exponents of dance music ever. Who else can claim to have DJed at the opening ceremony of the Olympics? Born in Breda, Holland in 1969, the young Tijs Michiel Verwest quickly shortened his name, became interested in music and began DJing at parties. He was soon a resident at the club Spock in Breda. In 1994 he began releasing his own material. These tracks had a more hard, Gabba edge to the more melodic trance that he is known for now, but it allowed him to feed his obsession for dance floor killers at the techno clubs in Rotterdam and around Europe. Towards the end of the nineties Tiesto set up his own label to release his tracks and with that came a more refined trance sound. This sound catapulted him to stardom as he hit a nerve with young ravers around the globe with his emotionally tinged dance music. The release of his first studio album In My Memory was a massive hit and did some serious damage to the charts. In 2004 Tiesto performed at the opening ceremony of the Athens Olympics, where he played for 90 minutes in front of an audience of ten thousand athletes and seventy five thousand fans. The set was recorded and released as the album Parade of the Athletes. Tiesto has continued his global dominance and is constantly mentioned at the top of DJ lists and polls. He is now a celebrated personality and even the subject of an internet hoax. Earlier this year he had to issue a statement that he was very much alive after internet rumours broke that he had perished in a car crash in California. Tiesto now comes to the UK for a rare live set. Don’t miss one of the greatest DJ’s around live at an arena near you. Buy Tiesto tickets today on Seatwave.com.
