Status Quo are one of Britains best loved and longest formed touring bands, having been together for over 30 years of almost steady touring, playing in front of millions of fans across the country and further afield. The band was established while Francis Rossi, and Alan Lancaster were still at Sedgehill Comprehensive in Catford, in 1962. They commenced their careers as songwriters in 1963 when they met Rick Parfitt, who at the time was a member of a cabaret band. Despite their huge following in the UK, Status Quo have never enjoyed success in the United States, with their only single to chart on the Billboard hot 100 reaching a lowly number 70 in 1968. Despite the lack of success stateside, the Quo have cultivated a huge following in Scandinavia and the Netherlands, where they also tour extensively. Status Quo are currently recording their 29th Studio Album which is set for release late this year, and are also re-releasing an updated version of their massive 1986 hit “In the Army Now” with all proceeds going to support the British Forces Foundation and the Help for Heroes Charity, in aid of British servicemen wounded in action. To date their recording career has spanned 28 released studio albums, 3 live albums, 6 compilation albums and an astounding 77 singles released in the United Kingdom. Their prolific recording has earned them the accolade of being the highest number of any group in UK music history, with 22 of their singles being top 10 hits on the official UK charts.
