          Peter Kay

          Peter Kay

Bolton born Peter Kay is probably the best loved current UK standup comedian. His career like so many other top comedians was kickstarted by Channel 4’s “so you think your funny” contest, back in 1997 – and stand up appearances the following year at the Edinburgh Festival where he was nominated in his first year of performance for a prestigious Perrier Award. At this point in his career he would often frequent the UK’s best known comedy clubs, but he managed to break into mainstream British culture with his phenomenally successful first DVD “Live from the Top of the Tower” which sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and led to the series Pheonix Nights which catapulted him into the limelight as one of the best comedians of his generation. His career has gone onto new heights with the latest tour, performing over 50 sell out nights in arena’s across the country, in by far the biggest standup tour the country has ever seen. His current tour, named “The Tour that Doesnt Tour” was originally penned in for three nights at the MEN arena, following exceptional demand it was increased to an unbelievable 20 nights. As demand for the Peter Kay tickets still outstripped demand, they arranged nights in other arena’s including London’s o2 Arena, and renamed the tour, “The Tour that Doesnt Tour, now on Tour”. Finally, more dates were released at the end of the tour, back in his home venue of the MEN arena where he worked as an usher, under the name: “The Tour that Doesnt Tour, Now on Tour, Homecoming Tour”. Peter Kay tickets are sold out in most other places, but you can still get tickets for every night of his upcoming tour right here on seatwave.com, Europe’s largest fan to fan ticket exchange.

Oh My B\'Jebus this was the best and most amazing show that i have ever seen. Been in stitches the full night and my jaw and sides have split. For all those people considering buying tickets, please do. Any negative comments are lies as all the material is new with well loved references to old stories. He was amazing and i even got to see his helicopter.

A five star night! Took my dad along as a Christmas present and he absolutely loved it! You seriously can't go wrong when you watch Peter Kay - he appeals to everyone, isn't crude - just tells funny stories we can all relate to. I'm not the world's biggest standup fan - I tend to get a bit bored - but not here. Peter keeps it up tempo, jumps around different gags with a lively one and a half hour show split by an interval. I won't spoil the shows finale but fans of his music wont be dissapointed. Hiring Rick Astley as a support act was a master stroke (however the crowds involvement with his set can be directly tied to the amount of alcohol consumed and the fact i saw him on a sunday night didnt help) Great show.. you have to see him on his April or June dates

Have only seen the DVD's of previous shows and thought they were fantastic, but live was better! Laughter all the way through, tears and sore sides. The observations of family are so well observed. I can't wait for the DVD to enjoy again!

Brilliant seats, late booked but easily collected at Trocadero HMV. Peter Kaye is fab, love northern humour as I am also Lancashire born and bred! Only complaint would be the long wait to get a drink at the 02 surely there is a better system they could use or just have more bar staff.

Peter Kay was brilliant! laughed from start to finish. using seatwave for the first time however opened my eyes to the monopoly created by ticketmaster and seatwave. i believe the only people that lose out are the geniune fans and the artists. there should be tighter control on the premiums and commisions we pay to see the people we admire and support. i will learn in future to be more organised and buy tickets when they first come out on sale. but even then its hard to get decent tickets. it was a truely memorable event. and i dont regret buying the tickets even at double the price. Peter Kay your a genius.

Fantastic night - although the acoustics were a bit poor to begin with but it seemed to get better as time went on - hilarious comedian. Started with Rick Astley who tried to be funny - bit of a cringe moment though. Great night

Peter Kay is simply a very very funny man. He is not vulgar or crude just extremely observant when it comes to human nature. A real must for anyone wanting a fantastic night night out.

Peter Kay – review By: Stage: Comedy | guardian.co.uk07 June 2011

O2 Arena, London To start his show, Peter Kay turns a camera on his audience, gifting one or two their moment on the giant upstage screen. At the end, he karaokes Queen and the Proclaimers to a rock backing track. Neither episode has much to do with entertainment. Both shore up the sense of Kay – now on a major tour of Britain's enormo-domes – as one of us: the one who jokes about our cosy parochial lives; the one who gets to live our showbiz fantasies onstage. However reciprocal this kinship (the...

And so this, in the end, was what it all came down to, a male-dominated Britain's Got Talent final featuring an impressionist, some warblers, a loony organist who may well have been Peter Kay in sequins, and the old bloke from accounts. No space for the man who sings nursery rhymes to the tunes of Celine Dion, nor the woman of a certain age with rodents dressed as dogs incapable of choreographed mischief.

When TV channel Dave asked me to quiz comedians about the toughest places to play and the finest British standup of all time, I received some unexpected replies I counted them all out and I counted them all back. Not Harrier jets , but the 114 questionnaires sent to standups to poll their views on UK comedy. Earlier this year, the satellite channel Dave commissioned me to put together a comedy census to tie in with their roving gagsmithery series One Night Stand , which returns tonight at 9pm. Among...
