Paul Weller is one of the true icons of British Music. His career spans back to the late 70s, but despite his stature as one of the senior British musicians, he has remained popular with every generation of fans since his original burst onto the scene with his then band The Jam. As a member of legendary Britpop band, the Jam, Weller enjoyed huge success and released six studio albums, including the 1982 "The Gift" which 'gifted' Weller his first UK number one. In addition the Jam released three live albums, and no less than fifteen compilation albums, many featuring rarities and never heard before live material. Following the split of the band, Weller embarked on a solo career in 1990 which was kicked off with headlining the very first V Festival, and subsequently has gone on to release a further ten albums, including the quadruple platinum Stanley Road, and more recently the Platinum 22 Dreams, which topped the charts in 2008. In this period Weller has also released nearly 40 singles, with many being top ten chart hits in the UK and Ireland. Recently Paul "the modfather" Weller has been awarded Best Male Solo Artist at the Brits, and the "Godlike Genius" award from New Musical Express at the 2010 NME Awards. He has also been nominated for Album of the year with his 2010 release "Wake Up Nation" in the Mercury Music Awards.
