JLS (short for Jack the Lad Swing) were catapulted to fame by Simon Cowell’s X Factor in 2008, when they were runners up behind Alexandra Burke but they are now so much more. JLS have carved out a strong presence in their own right and if their strong showing during the 2010 awards season is anything to go by, they are here to stay for a while. Now on their 6th tour (The 4th Dimension tour) JLS look set to light up the country once again with their classic take on the boy band fun and emotion. The groups members are Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, JB Gill and Oritse Williams. Despite coming second in the ’08 X Factor finals, JLS have without doubt been the find of the series – having featured so far on five singles reaching the coveted number one spot on the UK charts, with one other reaching the top ten. In addition their debut album the eponymous “JLS” released in November 2009 reached the number one spot and went quadruple platinum in the UK and double platinum in Ireland – to date the most successful album released by an X Factor contestant in the UK. Apart from their meteoric chart success they have also won over the critics with nominations and wins in the BRITs, Virgin Media Music Awards, BBC Switch Awards, MOBOs and Urban Music Awards – a stunning accomplishment for the boy band that just 3 years ago nobody had heard of. Having signed to US label Jive in 2010, the boys are trying to break into the massive American market with their smooth blend of pop and soul, and their debut single “Everybody in Love” was released in the States in July 2010. Filming their new promo in the States has been according to our boys “a grounding experience” as they are still relatively unknown over in the US, they went on to say “we shot a video in a shopping centre, and about 10 people showed up to watch – it really makes you appreciate what you’ve got back home”.
