Bob Mould is probably better known as guitarist and vocalist in American alt-rock band Husker Du. His solo work came about following the demise of his original band and then second group Sugar.
Although Mould has experiemented with the atmospheric and acoustic, his sound now reflects the old days of Husker Du, loud and angry.
