Bat for Lashes is the debut solo project of Natasha Khan who, apparently, as a teenager, used to creep around the house at night to play the piano. The comparisons to Bjork and Tori Amos are not without there merits though, because like them, she does her own thing. It's easy to shove her into the indie/alternative genre but this would do Bat For Lashes no justice. With plenty of offbeat piano riffs and non-conventional lyrics, Natasha Khan has proved that she is following no-one but herself.
